Note that the DFGS-series force gauges are replaced by (yet is still completely compatible with) Chatillon's new DFS series force gauges

Accuracy: ±0.15% of full scale ±1 LSC (least significant count)
Tare Capacity: 10% of full scale in pound or ounce mode
Full Scale Deflection: 0.010"
Analog Output: 0 to ±2.0 VDC full scale, accurate to ±0.018 Volt
Temperature: 40° to 110°F (5°C to 45°C), Stability: 0.03% per °F
Weight: Instrument: 1-1/4 lbs (4 lb shipping weight)

The DFGS offers the highest level of sophistication, accuracy and operation features within a single digital force gauge product.  Its rapid internal sampling rate, set point capability and other programmable test parameters are well suited for demanding R&D requirements as well as precise production floor applications.

The standard bi-directional RS232 interface permits on demand data transmission as well as peripheral control of all gauge keypad functions.  The highly accurate analog output voltage provides for precise graphing of the force curve.  When integrated with a Chatillon digitally controlled test stand, the DFGS becomes the heart of an extremely versatile tester system.

Operation Features

  • Internal digital sampling rate of 5000 samples per second
  • Programmable high and low force set points with audible indicator and RS232 output signal for stopping motor drive on Chatillon digital test stands or cycling the stand between the set points.  Operator may configure audible indicator and/or RS232 output signal inactive while maintaining set point values in memory.
  • Peak function automatically captures and stores highest instantaneous reading within each test.  The peak function may be engaged prior to testing to freeze the display at the highest reading.  It may also be engaged after the test to display the peak value stored.  The "zero" and Star keys clear peak memory.
  • Tension/compression modes are indicated by "T" for tension or "C" for compression upon force application. In the digital output, tension values are identified with a minus sign
  • Contact closure, force capture function can capture the instantaneous electric contact force within keypads, buttons, switches, etc.  In this application, the test contacts are electrically connected to the DFGS via two pins on the output connector.  Upon contact closure, the DFGS is electrically prompted to freeze the digital display as well as the analog output level.
  • Selectable units of measurement: lb, kg or N (250 gram gauge reads in units of oz, g or N)
  • Push button calibration in any selected units
  • Rechargeable battery or AC operation allows 8 hour continuous battery operation with 12-14 hour charge. Low battery indicator on display. Continuous AC operation via charger/AC adaptor
  • Auto shut-off function preserves battery life. DFGS shuts off if idle for 10 minutes. Operator may deactivate this feature if undesirable.
  • Available for 110 VAC or 220 VAC

Output/Interface Features

  • Bi-directional RS232 interface for data transmission as well as peripheral control of all gauge keypad functions.  Digital data transmission up to 100 data points per second may be accomplished via the interface. Data transmission parameters are user-selectable.  (Baud rates from 300 to 19,200).  When interfaced with a Chatillon digital test stand, the DFGS may be programmed to transmit an RS232 signal upon reaching a force set point in order to stop the test stand motor or cycle the stand between force set points.
  • Mitutoyo output (modified BCD) for use with Mitutoyo brand processors
  • Precise Analog Output: 0 to ±2.0 VDC full scale with accuracy of ±0.18 volts. "Zero" key will zero analog output as well as display for preloads applications

Physical Design Features

  • Die cast metal reversible housing. Split housing design permits upright display whether gauge is hand held or test stand mounted.
  • Easy to read 1/2" high LCD display with 4-1/2 digits for forced value. Smaller characters within the display indicate units of measurement, test mode, set point and low battery
  • 9 key membrane keypad
  • 2 separate rear mounting hole patterns (#10-32 thread)
  • #10-32 x 3/16 long thread on load cell shaft
  • Output connector: 12 pin "Hirose" design

Standard Accessories:

Stainless steel attachments include a flat head, hook, cone, chisel and extension rod. Gauge, battery charger, attachments, Allen wrench and operation manual are furnished in a cushioned carrying case.
